What kind of lamp do you need?
As the lamps age, light output decreases.
Lamps should be replaced after 12-18 months depending on usage.
Flourescent light is best for seeds and cuttings.
MH ( Metal Halide) lamps put out light at the blue/green and of the spectrum and are best for vegetative growth.
HPS (High Pressure Sodium) lamps put out light at the red/orange end of the spectrum and are best for fruiting and flowering.
Since a MH ballast is requires to run a MH lamp, and a HPS ballast is required to run a HPS lamp, conversion bulbs are available. There are two kinds of these- lamps which will convert MH to HPS, and lamps that convert HPS to MH.
